MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

Niana
Niana's Yoga journey started in 2012 with her first yoga teacher – Lin. Few years later, she embarked on the path of teaching yoga after completing her first teacher training course with Yogacharya N. Prabhuji and Yogacharya N. Sathish Kumarji.
In 2013, Niana received her Reiki Level 1 & 2 attunements from Asian Healing Arts Center, Chiang Mai. She volunteered in giving free clinical Reiki treatments for patients in Suanprung Psychiatric Hospital, Huaydindam Psychiatric Hospital and Northern Cancer Foundation Hostel.
In 2015, Niana went to Mysore, India for the first time and returned the following few years. She practiced Ashtanga Vinyasa with Yogacharya Sri B. Shantharam and learned Pranayama under the guidance of BNS Iyengar. The Mysore method contributed greatly to her practice, it helped to define her strengths and weaknesses.
Niana constantly travels to attend various workshop and practices with different teachers, styles and schools. To name a few : Rodney Yee, Swami Govindananda, Leslie Kaminoff, Jason Candrell, Amy Ippoliti, Giselle Mari etc. She also practiced in different Ashtanga schools and teachers around the world. Every teacher she met has brought great transformation to her practice and teaching skill.
In early 2019, Niana had a rare opportunity to study the Vinyasa Krama method with Srivatsa Ramaswami, the longest standing student of the legendary Tirumalai Krishnamacharya (the father of modern yoga), making her the first and only Malaysian certified in Vinyasa Krama. The Vinyasa Krama method completely changed her practice. Her long term understanding of yoga, shifted. There is a brilliance within this practice that she has not found anywhere else.
In her quest for a spiritual path, she discovered Vipassana meditation - a rigorous and intense form of meditation where one is required to meditate for 10 hours every day for 10 days in complete silence. To date, she has attended four (4) Vipassana retreat and maintains a daily practice.
Apart from teaching for fitness studio, gym and rehab, she was hired as a full time Yoga Instructor for Berjaya Hills, teaching for The Chateau Organic Spa & Resort and Colmar Tropicale. She is also invited regularly to teach as the Guest Artist for YTL Gaya Island Resort.
Niana is dedicated to share the Yoga tradition and lifestyle with eager students. She is recognized for her ability to conduct warm and inviting classes that foster an invigorating, supportive and calming environment. She brings a greater understanding of different styles of Yoga, breaking down complex yogic principles into simple guidance that helps student deepen their practice from inside out. She is also known for her guided meditation and relaxation session. Her deeply calming voice penetrates into every soul, instilling a sense of internal peace and leaving every participants feeling incredibly relaxed, present and rejuvenated.
Niana is a globe-trotter and an avid traveller.
When she is not traveling, she is based in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
